ABSTRACT:
Recent advances in Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS) aim to enhance safety and efficacy of drug molecule by formulating a convenient dosage form for administration and to achieve better patient compliance. One such approach is fast disintegrating film formulation. In the present work, fast disintegrating films of Felodipine were designed with a view to enhance solubility by complexation process. The properties of the prepared solid mass of felodipine were characterized by in vitro dissolution studies, UV- spectroscopy. Film were manufactured with alternate formula compositions and were analyzed for various parameters including film weight, thickness, drug content, folding endurance and ex vivo permeation studies were evaluated . The analytical data from the optimization experiments were verified. These values were found to be very close to those predicted data. All the results were in compliance with the requirements of ODFs.
