ABSTRACT:
A novel gold electrode modified with 2-Mercaptobenzothiazol-Nafion was developed for the quantification of Se (IV) using pulse anodic differential voltammetry (DPASVA). Various parameters (such as electrolyte, accumulation time, accumulation voltage, etc.) were established to study their effect on the reduction of Se (IV) on the modified electrode. The concentration of Se (IV) was measured in an aqueous HClO4 (0.4 M) solution at pH 0.40, and it has an accumulation potential of-600mV (compared to Ag/AgCl) and a time required to accumulate for 300 seconds. Under the optimum conditions, a linear calibration graph, Ip=f(CSe4+), was obtained in the concentration ranges of 2×10-9 M (0.1579ng/mL) with relative standard deviations (RSD) 4.4%. The developed method was characterized by good efficiency of Se (IV) accumulation and resistance against interactions of participating substances and metal ions in some foods and pharmaceuticals. Compared with selenium determination results using a 3,3'-diaminobenzidine.4HCl-nafion (GEMDN) electrode, the developed electrode gave 2.5 times better accuracy and sensitivity.
