ABSTRACT:
In the present study, the propanol extract from Barringtonia acutangula leaf (PEBA) was subjected to evaluation of antihyperglycemic and biochemistry restorative potentials in streptozotocin-challenged diabetic albino rats as per the respective protocols. PEBA at their doses of 100 and 200mg/kg of body weight, demonstrated significant antihyperglycemic and restorative effects on the serum biochemical and liver antioxidative parameters in diabetes affected rats. It may thus be inferred that, B. acutangula leaf had remarkable antihyperglycemic and restorative role in diabetic rats warranting further investigations for diabetes management.
