ABSTRACT:
The combined extract of Scurrula atropurpurea BI. Dans (SA) leaves and Dendrophthoe petandra (DP) leaves contains phytoactive substances that have the potential to maintain health, including reducing blood pressure. This study was to observe the safety of SADP combination to healthy human subjects. 35 healthy subjects participated in the single-blind randomized clinical trial. The control (placebo) group was compared with the intervention group, who received oral 560 mg of SA and 187 mg of DP, which were consumed in 3 capsules a day for 15 days. Consumption of SADP provided no side effects on healthy subjects. The vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate), routine blood tests, serum profiles such as kidney function (urea, creatinine), liver function (AST and ALT), and lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol) showed normal results, like the control group. It can be concluded that oral administration of SADP capsules has beneficial effects on healthy subjects and does not cause harmful side effects.
