ABSTRACT:
The prevalence of stunting is still high in children under five, this will greatly threaten the motor development and intelligence of children in the future. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of giving sea hare extract (Dolabella Auricularia) and papaya juice on growth and motor development in stunted toddlers. The efficacy study used the ‘Randomised experimental Pre-Post test With Control Group Design’ design. This study was conducted in the working area of Puuwatu Health Centre. The sample totalled 50 people, divided into 5 groups, namely 3 treatment groups, 2 controls (negative control and positive control). Treatment was double blind for 6 weeks. Data collection on the main variables: TB, BW, Age, and Motor development. Standardised confounding variables included: intake data of Anergy, Protein and Iron (Fe). Data were analysed with SPSS, for univariate data and bi-variate data using Paired-tests and Independent t - tests. The results of this study showed that the three treatment groups of each variable all had a significant effect (P < 0.05), although there was a small effect, in the test of the effect of syrup administration on several dependent variables, namely: BW, TB (growth) and motor development. This study can be concluded that, there is an effect of giving sea rabbit extract syrup and papaya juice on the increase in weight, increase in TB (growth), motor development of undernourished children.
