ABSTRACT:
Mikania micrantha is an evergreen herb belonging to the family Asteraceae. In the current study, the investigation was conducted to assess the HPLC profiling of the methanolic extracts of the leaves of Mikania micrantha. In-vitro anti-oxidant and antidiabetic activity of the methanolic extract was also evaluated using different standard methods. For Antioxidant studies, the total Phenolic content assay, total Flavonoid content assay, DPPH Radical scavenging assay, and Hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging assaywere carried out. In-vitro anti-diabetic activity was evaluated using a-amylase inhibition assay. The IC50 value was determined for each assay. When compared to other common antioxidants, the methanolic extract of Mikania micrantha leaves has shown potent anti-oxidant activity by suppressing DPPH radicals. It was seen that there was a dose-dependent increase in percentage inhibitory activity against alpha-amylase enzyme while performing the in vitro anti-diabetic evaluation using a-amylase as standard.
