ABSTRACT:
The aim of this article is to review the literature for existing protocols on management of patients with acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (ANUG) and to propose a protocol after compilation of various relevant protocols from literature. A literature search was conducted and articles were chosen with relevance to title and/or abstract with relevance to ANUG and treatment of ANUG. A systematic management regimen for different populations of ANUG patients namely – children, adults, and immunocompromised, has been formulated. This guideline is intended to help practitioners make decisions regarding treatment of ANUG and to help update their knowledge about the disease condition.
