ABSTRACT:
Surgical Splints are devices used to maintain tissues in a new position. This becomes most essential in surgical scenarios, where in appropriate tissue positions are achieved by surgical armamentarium to simulate guided tissue regeneration. Niti [nickel- titanium ] also known as Nitinol plays a vital role in the fabrication of surgical splints mainly because of its desirable biofunctional and biocompatible properties apart from its well known Shape memory and Super elasticity properties. Lately, Niti is the most sought after material in bio-engineering, due to its exclusive superelastical characteristics and shape memory. NiTi functioning is based on the application of a small load and a prolonged stress which can be dynamic, static progressive or static serial.
