ABSTRACT:
Aim: The aim of this comprehensive review is to present an update about the effects of external bleaching on restorative materials. Objective: External bleaching procedures utilizing peroxide compounds, including Carbamide peroxide, hydrogen peroxide, sodium perforate and calcium peroxide, are being used in bleaching products to improve the appearance of tooth. The main objective is to summarise and discuss the available information concerning the effects of peroxide releasing bleaching agents on dental restorative materials and restorations. Background: Multiple studies have evaluated the effects of bleaching agents on restorative materials such as amalgam, Dental alloy, glass ionomer, Dental ceramic and composite resin restorations, which can lead to increased surface roughness, crack development, marginal breakdown, release of metallic ions, and decreases in tooth-to-restoration bond strength. Reason: External bleaching might have a serious impact on restorative materials; these findings relate to possible physical and chemical changes and its effects on restorative materials is the main idea of this review.
