ABSTRACT:
Diabetes mellitus is a cluster of metabolic disorders characterized by symptoms of hyperglycemia. Nowadays, the disease has become a serious health issue to mankind throughout the globe. The major source of morbidity is the association of micro and macro vascular complications along with hyperglycemia. The widely available antidiabetic agents to control the hyperglycemia are associated with undesirable pathological conditions and high rates of secondary failure. Hence, natural extracts and its constituents derived from medicinal plants with hypoglycaemic properties and high efficacy but few side effects are urgently required as alternative approach for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Fortunately, there are number of formulated herbal drugs used to treat diabetes mellitus, but lacks scientific and medical validated data. The present review aims to study the usage of polyherbal formulation in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
