ABSTRACT:
A computational model of human nasal cavity is developed from CT scan using MIMICS software. CFD analysis of flow patterns during inhalation and exhalation of carbon-monoxide is performed using Finite volume method. Detailed velocity profiles, pressure distribution, residual plots and streamline patterns during inhalation and exhalation are presented. The implications for olfaction are visualized.
