ABSTRACT:
Introduction: The success of periodontal and endodontic treatments depends on the total recovery from both conditions regardless of their occurrence as independent or combined lesions. There is strong presumptive evidence that pulpal inflammation and degeneration are caused in teeth with periodontal disease. Therefore, the goal of this study was to establish a correlation between periodontal diseases and pulp volume. Materials and methods: This study includedsubjects who underwent CBCT forpreoperative evaluation of Implants.20 images obtained by cone-beam computed tomography were analysed. The Statistical package SPSS (Statistical package for social science) and Microsoft Excel was Used for statistical analysis. Results: The obtained results were from 8 females and 12 males. In these, 5 images were taken as standard and the remaining 15 images were taken as test. The results showed a significant decrease in the pulp volume in teeth which are periodontally compromised. Conclusion: The analysis of the results showed a reduction in the pulp volume by 12.1% and surface area by 13.3% of the teeth with a periodontal defect. The toxic products caused by periodontal disease can infiltrate from the lateral canals and trigger inflammatory responses or reactions in the pulp.
