ABSTRACT:
The Anti-diarrhoeal effect of the aqueous extract of the aerial parts of in rosents was examined .At the doses of 125, 250, 500 mg/kg of the extract protected rats, in a dose increasing fashion against diarrhea promoted by castor oil dropping by38.09, 59.93 and 65.11% respectively .Further , it has significantly inhibited by 41.46 % the gastrointestinal transit of charcoal in rats at 500 mg /kg dose of the extract .These data suggest that : Peucedanum pastinacifolium shows antidiarrhoeal activity by inhibiting intestinal motility with no signs of acute toxicity which is correlated to its uses in folkloric medicine
