ABSTRACT:
Plant hormones are the chemicals that control plant growth. They play a crucial role in controlling the way in which plants grow and develop. Today, because the effects of plant growth regulators (PGRs) on plants are well known, they are used widely in agriculture. Whip super (Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl), Miraculan (Tricontanol), Lihocin (Chloromequat), Safal (Carbendazim) are some of the plant growth regulators which were examined for the present study. Thin layer chromatography analysis was performed to determine the retention factor of different plant growth hormones with different solvent system and spraying reagents at Department of Forensic Science, Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur, (C.G.). It was found that Methanol: Water (80:20), Methanol: Water (60:40), Benzene: Toluene (50:50) and Toluene: Acetic Acid (90:10) solvent system showed better potential in separating the components of Plant Growth Hormones. In spraying reagents O-Dianisidine and Ferric Chloride reagents showed excellent potential for developing spots of Plant Growth Hormones which will be usefull for routine examination of sample.
