ABSTRACT:
The main objective of this paper is to ensure that the data and node are authenticated during communication in any application environment. To ensure this, nodes are authenticated by checking their reply messages and timestamps using a simple lightweight mechanism. Lightweight Two-way Authentication (LTA) produces a new secret key that uses the received signal strength and the time stamp improving communication performance. The new lightweight method not only produces greater packet delivery but also greater security as well. The performance of the LTA method is tested against an Efficient and Lightweight User Authentication (ELUA). Simulation analysis of the LTA method is achieved by NS2.
