ABSTRACT:
Swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus is currently responsible for an outbreak of infections in the human population. Swine flu has been creating a terror effects all round the globe and has been declared epidemic in most part of the world. Swine flu refers to swine influenza or the viral infection caused by any of the several types of swine influenza virus. Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Folk (Tribal) medicines are the major systems of indigenous medicines. Unlike many diseases, this can be attributed to the life style of modern man. Swine flu is a disease of the respiratory system. It is caused by the H1N1 virus. The most frequently reported symptoms in this are fever, cough, diarrhea, vomiting and sore throat. Ayurvedic medicines and plant based medicines are used for swine flu. It has less or no side effects. More than 700 plants like Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) and Holy Basil (Ocimum Sanctum) are being used for many types of disease including swine flu. These plants have lot of antibiotic property.
