ABSTRACT:
The association of dyes with health related problems is not a new Phenomenon. The effectiveness of rice husk and egg shell adsorption for dye removal from textile and leather effluent has made it an ideal alternative to other expensive treatment methods. The preparation of rice husk and egg shell adsorbents from waste could increase economic return and reduce pollution. The ability of rice husk and egg shell powder to remove malachite green from aqueous solutions has been studied for contact time different adsorbate concentrations by varying the amount of adsorbent and temperature .Kinetic studies such as pseudo 1st order and 2nd order are studied. Thermodynamic parameters such as H°, S° and G°, were calculated from the slope and intercept of the linear plots. Analysis of adsorption results obtained at 303, 308, 313, 318 and 323 K showed that the adsorption pattern on rice husk and egg shell seems to follow the Langmuir and Freundlich. The numerical values of sorption free energy indicate physical adsorption.
