ABSTRACT:
Aim: To study the age related changes in mandible.
Objective: The aim of the study is to assess the changes in the mandible of adult and old age using 46 Mandibles from the Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College . Angle of the mandible, length and breadth of the ramus of the mandible, position of the mental foramen, are the different parameters which will be observed.
Background: Mandibular structure that undergo changes with ageing include Alveolar Bone, Condylar Process, Coronoid Process, Mental Foramen, Ramus and Mandibular Canal. Porosity was observed to increase with ageing. It was observed to be more pronounced in alveolar bone than in mandibular bone.
Reason: The reason for the study to know about the changes in the mandible with ageing.
