ABSTRACT:
A Simple, sensitive, specific and economic spectrophotometric method was developed and validated for simultaneous estimation of Cefixime Trihydrate (CFX) and Ornidazole (ORD)in tablet dosage form. In simultaneous equation method, Cefixime Trihydrate (CFX) and Ornidazole (ORD) were quantified using their absorptivity values of at selected wavelengths, viz., 288.8 nm and 311.8 nm respectively. The linearity range was found to be 4-14 µg/ml for Cefixime Trihydrate (CFX) and 10-35 µg/ml Ornidazole(ORD).The accuracy and reproducibility of the proposed method was statistically validated by recovery studies. The simultaneous equation method permits simple, rapid and direct determination of Cefixime Trihydrate (CFX) and Ornidazole (ORD)in commercially available tablet dosage form without previous separations and can therefore be used for routine analysis.
