ABSTRACT:
The objective of this study was to prepare carisoprodol gel to reduce side effects of oral smooth muscle relaxants. Formulated gel were prepared by using two different polymers (Carbopol, HPMC) and evaluated for physico-chemical parameters like measurement of PH, viscosity, Spreadability, drug content, and skin irritation studies .based on the experimental data we concluded that HPMC gel containing Carisoprodol showed good consistency, spreadability and viscosity properties. The formulations were then evaluated for skin irritation study. And were kept for stability studies for period of three months and found that they were stable and finally it was concluded that the Gel 2 was the best and comparable with that of marketed product.
