ABSTRACT:
A simple, rapid, accurate, precise, specific and economic spectrophotometric method for simultaneous estimation of Mefenamic acid and Paracetamol in combined tablet dosage form has been developed. It employed formation and solving of simultaneous equation using two wavelengths 286 nm and 243.6 nm. This method obeyed Beer’s law in the employed concentration ranges of 2-12 µg/ml and 1.3-7.8 µg/ml for Mefenamic Acid and Paracetamol, respectively. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation for Mefenamic acid were found to be 0.0846 µg/ml and 0.2564 µg/ml respectively and that for Paracetamol were found to be 0.037 µg/ml and 0.1123 µg/ml respectively. Results of analysis were validated statistically and by recovery studies.
