ABSTRACT:
The aim of the present study was to develop an extended release formulation of Metoprolol Succinate to maintain constant therapeutic levels of the drug for over 24 hrs. An efficient extended release formulation of Metoprolol Succninate could be designed as extended release Matrix tablet. The optimized formulation (B-8) was developed by using HPMC [Benecel K35M] and HEC [Natrosol 250HHX] Regulated drug release in first order manner was attained by using these polymers. This extended release formulation (B-8) was found similar and comparable to the innovator product. The developed extended release formulation was quite stable with regard to physical properties and dissolution rate in the accelerated stability studies.
