ABSTRACT:
A simple, precise, accurate and rapid high performance thin layer chromatographic method has been developed and validated for the determination of Sennoside B in capsule dosage forms. The stationary phase used was precoated silica gel 60F 254. The mobile phase containing isopropanol, ethyl acetate, water and ammonia in proportion of 50:35:25:2 v/v was used to separate the spots of Sennoside B. The detection of spot was carried out at 308 nm. The Rf value was found to be 0.33 ± 0.01. The method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy and precision. The linearity curve found to be linear in between 50-600ng/spot. The limit of Detection (LOD) and limit of Quantification (LOQ) were found to be 10.08ng and 25.6ng respectively. The proposed method can be used to determine the drug content from marketed formulations. KEY WORDS: HPTLC, Sennoside B, Validation
