Assessment the Development of Social Responsibility among Sample of (Kut Technical Institute, Iraq) Students and its Relation to Social Media Network Sites

ABSTRACT:
Background: Social networking sites such as Facebook have become known as the new social media, which is witnessing a dynamic movement of phase and spread. It was initially a virtual community on a narrow and limited, and then gradually increased from a written textual tool an audio-visual media tool that influences the decisions and responses of those affected by pressure from the influential force that influences the personal patterns of the individual (audio, visual, sensory). Objectives: To identify the development of social responsibility among Kut Technical Institute students. And to determine the association between the impact of social media network sites and student's their development of social responsibility. Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted on (400) student's at Kut Technical Institute in Wasit Governorate. By a non-probability sampling approach and self-administrative questionnaire, data are collected from those who studded in all department of Kut Technical Institute. The questionnaire composed of three section, it includes: demographic data, social media, and social responsibility development. Data are analyzed through the used descriptive an inferential approach. Results:The indicate that(95.3%) of participants are interested with social mediaand (52%) of them are Face-book interaction and consuming a three hours daily on their mobile. Fifty-eight percentage of students their social responsibility are impact with social media. In addition, the social media have been a high significant associations with students their development of social responsibility at p-value (<0.0.5). Conclusions: Most of the participants are interested with the social media and mostly used mobile device. Its consuming three hours time daily and in browsing face-book. It is also, students have been moderately social responsibly. In addition, social media have been affects students development their social responsibly. Recommendations: Decision makers need to be raise awareness among young people about the role of social networking sites and their impact on the development of their personalities and guide them to the optimal use of social networking sites. And it is also, need to hold training courses and circulated in schools for young people aimed at developing their skills in the recruitment of social networking sites in the service of their issues and the most important aspect is the use of those sites for study purposes.

I. INTRODUCTION:
Nowadays technology of informationis changed many aspects of our life. As one important is internet plays an indispensable role in taking the world to a small and large village and in bringing people at nearer distance to each other in various forms. This facilities allow the world people to create social network being anywhere in the presence of web(1). Social-web has led to the birth of what is known as the “read/write web” The revisions also introduced the term “social-software”, which refers to any soft-ware that lets people have a two-way conversation. The author explained that many users spend almost all their time online to visit social networking sites (SNS) due to the advantages of those sites, which include: allowing people to communicate and build community online, facilitating syndication by sharing and re-using, and capitalizing the knowledge of others and helping people learn easily(2). A more recent Global-Web Index survey in 2010 reports that communal media has now- reached maturity and users are moving from just being content creators and publishers to using real time technologies for sharing other people’s content and opinions(3). Whereas the quick rise in popularity of SNS began in the second half of the last decade partly because of their extensive usage by school and university students(4). Face-book, for example, boasted 901 million monthly active users and more than 125 2 billion friend connections at the end of March(5). Recently people are engaging in social networking sites for different purposes,” consume a lot of time on social networking sites uploading or downloading, getting information concerning their career or academic work. People are always online every second, chatting with friends, watching online movies or doing research. Social site has become a habit for some people; they find it difficult to study for one hour without login to one network site. Some people have become very smart because of the information they get from this sites, why some have become very poor academically, since it is easy to get almost any materials for school assignment from SNS”(6). Though, social networking sites have remarkable benefits in social, economic, and political building, there is a dialogue here and there in Ethiopia with regard to the effect of SNS on students academic performance(7). Social activities are an urgent need of young people in particular. They are a source of disclosure of youth talents, potentials and tendencies in various fields of activities. Cultural and social development, development cannot take place without the preparation of young people, which is a tool for development, as much as. It has health, vitality, ability, innovation, creativity, professional and technical skills, and a sense of responsibility as much as the community has the capacity to grow and develop(8). To work leisurely in a positive way and in a planned way, which helps greatly in modifying the behavior of users, and helps to raise the emerging from all aspects of psychological, social, spiritual, behavioral and mental, and the exploitation of leisure time in various activities achieve their tendencies and self, and saturation of some of their psychological needs such as the need to appreciate, Love, the need to belong, play, play, develop various skills and hobbies, and improve talents, achieve abilities and develop them and gain many useful experiences(8). Social media has become increasingly popular components of our everyday life in today’s globalizing society. It provides a context where people across the world can communicate, exchange messages, share knowledge, and interact with each other regardless of the distance that separates them.(9).
II. METHODOLOGY:
A Study Objectives:
To identify the development of social responsibility among Kut Technical Institute students. Also, to determine the association between the social media network sites andstudent's their development of social responsibility.
A study design:
A descriptive design was conducted to identify the development of social responsibility and its relation to social media sites.
A study sample:
A non-probability sample which account of (400) subjects is selected from all department ofKut Technical Institute students and both six (male-female).
Materials and methods:
A modified questionnaire and adopted by the others research studies(1). It considered a means for data collection. It consist of the followings parts:
Part I:These part includes students demographic characteristics of age, gender, marital status, economic status, and residency.
Part II: It concerned with the social media, which consist of four items include (are you interested with the social media, for any programs you are used, any device or methods you are used, and how much time you are spend on social media sites.
Part III: This part is composed of (59) item and divided into (4) sections. They are: self responsibility which composed of (15) items, religious and moral responsibility which composed of (12) items, social responsibility which composed of (16) items, and national responsibility which composed of (16) items. These items are measured on 3-level type Likert's Scale as always, sometime, and never.
Credibility and stability:
The content credibility of the instrument was estimated through a panel of (10) experts, the stability of the items was based on the internal consistency of the questionnaire was evaluated by calculating Alpha Cronbach' which as= 0.70.
Data analysis:
Through the used descriptive statistical (SPSS) version 20 analysis approach that includes, frequencies, percentages, mean of scores, standard divagation and graphical presentation of data; and inferential statistical data analysis approach that include Chi-squared test.
III. RESULTS:

Study results reveals that the (49.8%) of the students are within first age groups 19-21 years old. In regard with the gender, findings indicate that the same percentage for male and female, it constituted (50%). Concerning social status, most of students are unmarried and accounts (87%) out total number of the study sample. Among results (57.3%) are making moderate economic status. Finally, most of students (66.8%) are residences in urban areas.

Findings indicate that most of students (95.3%) are interested with social media. A fifty two percent of them are Face-book used among the remaining programs, and most of them are mobile used. A forty percent of students are used social media for three hours daily.

In light of statistical cut off point, findings demonstrated that the majority of (58%) of students are moderately social responsibility.

Findings demonstrated that there is a high significant association between students development of social responsibility and their social media at p-value (< 0.0.5).
IV. DISCUSSION:
Findings indicate that most of students (95.3%) are interested with social media. A fifty two percent of them are Face-book used among the remaining programs, and most of them are mobile used. As being most of these age group have a desire for relationships and friendships and always spend most of their time to communicate with their friends especially in adolescence periods. In personal view of point, as being the social media in our society are available and inexpensive, it is become the used these network widely among members of society. These results agree with results has been assessed the use of internet and its relation to academic achievement. Their findings indicate that the (595) the number of students are interested with these media network in AL-Khatim University(10).
A forty percent of students are used social media for three hours daily.There are no recreational facilities in our society, as being the used social media a lot time especially when used for the communication rather than for use for study purposes. A results concurrent with study conducted to identify the impact of internet upon students of preparatory schools in Hilla city. Their results depicts that students are used internet daily (1-5) hours(11).
Findings demonstrated that the majority of (58%) of students are moderately social responsibility.Social networking has quantum leap and social interactions and have emerged social communications, especially for the stages of adolescence where most of used are negative effects (physically or psychologically) because this age group used those networks away from the values as being lack of social guidance(12).
Findings demonstrated that there is a high significant association between students development of social responsibility and their social media at p-value (< 0.0.5). The use of Internet networks among students, especially in adolescence, is far from being used as studies have proved to be a use away from social values. Social orientation plays an important role in the use of these networks for the social growth of the individual(12).
These results agree with study has been conducted on sample of youth concerning social communication in the development of social responsibility. Their results indicated that the students needs to be orientation to be guided in using these networks to take their responsibility. Where program agendas around those networks and development self-responsibility. The program consists of five meetings within five days at a rate of four hours per meeting. Where the results indicated there is high significant association between students development of social responsibility and their social media(1).
V. CONCLUSIONS:
The study concludes that most of the participants are interested with the social media and mostly used mobile device. Its consuming three hours time daily and in browsing face-book. It is also, students have been moderately social responsibly. In addition, social media have been affects students development their social responsibly.
VI. RECOMMENDATIONS:
The study recommends for decision makers need to be raise awareness among young people about the role of social networking sites and their impact on the development of their personalities and guide them to the optimal use of social networking sites. And it is also, need to hold training courses circulated in schools for young people aimed at developing their skills in the recruitment of social networking sites in the service of their issues and the most important aspect is the use of those sites for study purposes.
