ABSTRACT:
A new sensitive, simple, rapid, precise, specific, accurate, economical and reproducible derivative spectrophotometric method was developed. It was requiring no prior separation for simultaneous estimation of Paracetamol (Para) and Diclofenac sodium (Dic.Na) in combined tablet dosage form. First order spectrophotometric derivative method was adopted to eliminate spectral interference. The First order derivative absorption wavelengths of drugs were found to be 269 nm for (Para) and 258 nm for (Dic.Na), dissolved in NaOH (1M). These wavelengths were selected for the analysis of (Para) and (Dic.Na) obeyed Beer-Lambert's law in the concentration of1-30 µg/mL at 269 nm and 0.5-32 µg/mL at 258 nm for (Para) and (Dic.Na) respectively. Regression analysis showed a good correlation coefficient R2 = 0.9999 for both (Para) and (Dic.Na). The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were to be 0.18 and 0.55 µg/mL for (Para), 0.05 and 0.15 µg/mL for (Dic.Na) respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to analysis (Para) and (Dic.Na) in Syrian trademark drugs. All studied samples showed that the drug levels were conformed to united state pharmacopeia (USP) legislation.
