Microwave-Assisted Synthesis and Evaluation of Anticancer Activity Of Substituted Acridone Analogues

ABSTRACT:
Microwave-assisted organic reaction enhancement has become a very useful tool in organic synthesis and has been explored extensively since the last decade. Microwave irradiation often leads to a remarkable decrease in reaction time, increased yields and easier workup matching with green chemistry protocols. In the present work, a fast and highly efficient method for the synthesis of substituted Acridone analogues has been performed by microwave irradiation. Microwave assisted reactions have resulted in very short reaction time with considerable increase in the yields compared to those prepared under conventional conditions. The title compounds were characterized by I.R. 1HNMR, Mass spectroscopy and Elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were screened for the in vitro anticancer activity against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) cells by tryphan blue exclusion method and further selected for screening in vivo anticancer activity by determining different parameters like body weight analysis, mean survival time (MST) and percentage increase in life span (%ILS).
